Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

A pre-existing medical condition is defined by most insurers as being an illness or injury that you were seeking or receiving treatment for or had symptoms of in the past 6-24 months.

If your medical condition is serious, the insurer may request an assessment of your condition before deciding if they will provide cover for it. Some insurers will provide cover for certain pre-existing medical conditions at no extra cost, while others, depending on the condition, may request an additional premium be paid.
