How does it work?

Travel insurance is very important. It is a cover for medical expenses or loss of belongings etc whilst travelling overseas or within your own country. If you think you can’t afford travel insurance then you really can’t afford to travel. No matter how careful you might be if something happens to you and you don’t have insurance it could end up costing you and your family thousands of dollars. Things like overseas medical treatment or medical transportation back to Australia can cost anywhere from a thousand dollars to 100,000 dollars or more.

  • Plan where you are going to travel
Different countries and destinations will require different types and amounts of insurance. Having the regions you are travelling to planned out first makes sure you are able to cover every aspect
  • Check your existing cover
Check your credit card, health insurance, life insurance, homeowners and auto insurance to see how much is already covered and whether this is sufficient. Some credit card policies will only give you cover if you spend a certain amount of your prepaid transportation or accommodation on your card.
  • Decide which type of cover you need
Consider items like overseas health/medical coverage, delay cover, trip and flight cancellation protection, luggage protection, car rental protection, accidental death etc
  • Research providers
Like travel insurance specialists, personal insurance providers, credit card companies, travel agents. Compare any cover you might already have with your travel agent or credit card company to direct packages. Make sure you find the one to suit your trip and that will save you the most money
  • Find out what is not covered and cannot be claimed
Things like any injury or loss that’s outside the insured period of time, some pre existing conditions. All exclusions will be detailed in the Product Disclosure Statement.
