AIG Life Formally trading as American International Assurance Company (Australia), AIA Life has been operating in Australia for over 30 years. AMP AMP began trading in 1849 as a mutual company. Since the company’s formation, AMP has developed from a mutual society focused on life insurance, to a wealth management company. In 1998, AMP listed on both the Australian and New Zealand stock exchanges.
Asteron Life Asteron Life, formally trading as Royal and Sun Alliance, handles 286 000 life policies. Asteron is owned by the Promina brand, which is also comprised of businesses such as AAMI, Tyndall and Shannons. Asteron draws on more than 170 years of financial services, employees more than 1200 people, and serves more than one million customers in Australia and New Zealand.
Aviva Aviva is a global insurance company, with a presence in over 30 countries. Aviva was originally known as Norwich Union Australia, and changed its name in 2003. The Aviva Group is a leading provider in Europe, the number one insurer in the UK, and the fifth largest insurer in the world. The Aviva Group employees 56 000 people, and serves more than 30 million customers worldwide. Aviva holds approximately $624 billion in assets under management globally.
AXA AXA, one of the worlds largest financial services group, entered the Australia market with the acquisition of National Mutual Life Association in 1999. AXA operates in over 60 countries, and controls over $1200 billion in global group assets.
CommInsure Commonwealth Banks insurance offering, CommInsure, is a leader in the Australian insurance industry. Whilst the name is relatively new (being introduced in 1999), CommInsure has industry knowledge and history reaching back over one hundred years.

ING ING is a global group based in Amsterdam. The Australian branch of ING is one of the leading fund managers and life insurers in the country. ING Australia manages over $40 billion in assets, and previously traded under Mercantile Mutual.
MLC MLC’s roots extend back to 1886, with the incorporation of Citizen’s Life Assurance Company Ltd. Today, MLC is a member company of the National group with a range of services designed to maintain financial security. MLC holds a AA rating from Standards and Poor’s.
MetLife Metlife is the number one life insurer in the US. Globally, Metlife companies serve millions of customers and have over 137 years experience. Catering for both individual and institutional customers, Metlife currently has more than $US3.8 trillion in life insurance.
Tower Tower was founded over 130 years ago in New Zealand. The Tower Group was established in Australia in 1990, with the acquisition of Adriatic Life Limited. Since this purchase, Tower has continued to expand through both natural growth and further acquisitions. Insurers acquired by Tower include FAI Life Insurance Society Ltd, Bridges Financial Services Pty Ltd, and Austrust. Tower Limited, the parent company of the Australian Tower Group, is listed on both the Australian and New Zealand stock exchange. In April 2006, Prefsure & Tower merged under the Tower brand.
Zurich Financial Services Group The Zurich Financial Services Group was founded in 1872 in Zurich, Switzerland. Zurich current holds strong positions in the United States, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. The group has an extensive global network, with offices in 50 countries, and approximately 62 000 employees worldwide. Zurich’s insurance and risk management solutions cater for all corporations, ranging from small businesses to multinational companies.
